How To Use IOD Gilded Foil Transfers
Preparation:
IOD Gilded transfers can be applied to various surfaces with the right preparation. For optimal adhesion, seal painted or porous surfaces with a satin or semi-gloss sealer and allow it to dry completely before applying your Gilded transfer.
Instructions:
If you are familiar with traditional IOD transfers, you'll find that these apply in a similar manner. However, areas with fine detail might require a bit more patience. Take your time and apply the usual amount of pressure—pressing harder can actually hinder the release of the transfer rather than help it.
1. Carefully select and cut out your transfer pieces, ensuring to keep the protective backing material attached to the transfer.2. Position the transfer piece over the surface, hovering to find the perfect placement.
3. Place the transfer on the surface (optional: secure corners with low grip tape).
4. Using the provided tool, start at one corner and rub with firm, even pressure to adhere the transfer. Continue across the design until fully adhered. If any part of the design doesn't transfer, lay the sheet back down and rub more in that area.
5. Remove the sheet and smooth any loose areas with your clean, dry hand. Burnish firmly with a clean soft cloth for maximum adhesion. You can leave it as is or gently distress with fine sandpaper.
6. Once applied, seal with two topcoats of a water-based sealer, such as DIY Big Top to enhance durability.
Bonus:
After using your gilded transfer designs, save the spent sheets. They can be reused with gold leaf adhesive size to showcase the negative design. Follow the adhesive size manufacturer’s instructions. When the adhesive is tacky but not wet, apply your IOD Gilded scrap to the surface, and use the burnishing tool to press until the design adheres.
Pro Tips:
Keep the Transfer Protected: Ensure the transfer stays with its protective backing until ready for application. Avoid dust or debris as they interfere with adhesion. Do not allow the adhesive side to touch anything before application. Avoid windy environments to prevent the adhesive side from touching itself.
Storage: Store transfers in a stable environment; extreme temperatures or humidity can affect adhesion.
Surface Preparation: The recommended surface should be clean, dry, and flat. If applying to a painted surface, ensure the paint is fully cured and free of residual moisture. For chalky or mineral-based paints, seal the surface with water-based polyurethane before applying the transfer.
Sealing: When sealing over a transfer, avoid strong solvent-based topcoats as they can affect the bond.
Usage Conditions: Not suitable for outdoor use or constant direct sunlight, which can cause fading and degradation of the transfer image.
Surface Stability: Any unstable surface can cause paint to pull when applying pressure to the transfer. This is an adhesion issue with the surface finish, so ensure the foundation surface is well-prepared and any paint or finish is bonded well to its substrate.

Use IOD furniture transfer decals to add visual style to your upcycled furniture and home décor projects. IOD furniture appliques are applied by rubbing them onto your project surface and can be cut, rearranged and overlapped to create new and unique designs.
Once applied, be sure to seal with a high-quality water-based poly-acrylic sealer or solvent-free wax.

Shipping is available to the USA. Shipping is also available to Canada and to select locations internationally, with the exception of DIY Paint and some liquid based products. All orders are generally processed within 1-2 business days from date of purchase except where indicated.
*All US Flat Rate and special shipping offers exclude DIY Paint, and, in some cases, Sweet Pickins Milk Paint Products. If these products are added to your order, standard shipping rates will apply to the entire cart.

Discounted Shipping offers exclude: Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. In these cases, standard shipping rates will apply.
Please be Patient during new IOD Product Releases! Due to the extremely high volume of orders, fulfillment and delivery will take longer than usual—please allow approximately seven to ten business days for your order to be processed and shipped. Orders will be filled on a first come/first served basis, so order early!
Very large orders (particularly paint orders) may require additional shipping, beyond what is charged at checkout. If shipping costs for large orders exceed what is automatically charged, you will be invoiced for additional funds before your package is shipped.
International Shipping is available on a case by case basis. Please use the contact form or email Lori@miltonsdaughter.com with specific shipping information and your order list and I will get back to you with a shipping quote. Orders placed online are not final until they are reviewed for proper international shipping costs.
***Pre-Orders*** - Pre-orders will be filled when product is received by Milton's Daughter. If you choose to include any other items in your cart, the entire order will be held until the pre-ordered item is ready to ship. If you want your in-stock items to ship first, either order them separately or reach out to Lori@miltonsdaughter.com--you will be billed for the additional shipping in a separate invoice.
**REGARDING LIQUID CONTENTS--PLEASE READ**
Orders that contain liquid and semi solid products such as paints, waxes, paint mediums will not ship without Route Protection--you will find Route in the checkout cart--please do not uncheck the box. If you do not see Route offered in the checkout cart (if checking out with FACEBOOK, SHOP or PAYPAL EXPRESS), please contact me directly at 917-960-2625 for a custom invoice. Any orders that contain anything that can potentially leak that do not contain the Route Protection will either have the jars taped or re-invoiced to you to include insurance.
Route Protection is available for all orders and is strongly recommended--it protects your order against leaking, damage, theft or loss. Claims are generally resolved within 48 hours or less.
Packages ship via USPS or UPS (Packages to Canada ship via USPS and Canada Post). If you require overnight shipping or shipping by a different carrier that services rural areas, please contact me at Lori@miltonsdaughter.com and I will try my best to accommodate. In the event an alternative shipping method is chosen, such as expedited shipping, you will be charged for any additional shipping costs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING CANADIAN AND INTERNATIONAL ORDERS:
Packages being shipped to Canada and Internationally can take between 1 - 4+ weeks to arrive at their final destination.
DIY Paint and select other products cannot be included in orders shipping to Canada and most international orders; in the event you check out with DIY Products or other products that cannot be shipped internationally, they will be refunded to you and deducted from your order.
**INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING RATES: PLEASE READ**
The charge for Canadian shipping is $26 for packages up to 2 lbs and $32.50 for packages 2-4lbs. The charge for International shipping is $28.00 for packages up to 2 lbs, $32.50 for packages up to 3 lbs, and $42.50 for packages up to 4 lbs. Packages over 4 lbs are subject to additional review and the customer will be contacted to pay additional shipping over the 4lb limit. The customer will also be contacted to pay any additional shipping required over the price the website charges in keeping with the correct International Shipping rates as stated above. Shipping charges may change without notice due to shipping price fluctuations. If your package exceeds 4 lbs, you will be contacted to pay additional shipping charges. Shipping does not include any additional customs or duty fees--the customer is fully responsible for these additional fees. Route Insurance Protection is mandatory for packages being shipped to Canada and Internationally.
**Winter Shipping Advisory regarding DIY PAINT**
DIY Paint is a water-based paint that can be damaged if allowed to freeze. During the winter season, I am very selective in how and when I ship your paint orders.
If temperatures fall below freezing, and in order to ensure that your receive your paint in good condition, DIY paint will ship on Mondays through Wednesdays, generally via Priority Mail. .Therefore, if you place an order on Thursday, it will not ship until Monday, I do offer a heated shipping option, which is available for purchase. If you have ordered other non paint products in the same order, your entire order will be shipped at the same time.
Route Protection is mandatory for the shipment of all DIY Paint and Products.
In some cases, depending upon your location, you may be contacted for additional shipping when Priority Mail charges exceed standard shipping costs.
If the temperatures in your area are below freezing, you are fully responsible for bringing your paint inside immediately upon delivery to avoid freezing.

Your satisfaction with your purchase is my priority! If you receive any damaged items, please contact me within 24 hours of receipt and include detailed photos of the damage. Any manufacturing or quality defects will be handled swiftly. Items damaged in shipping will subject to the insurance rules of the carrier, unless you have selected Route Package Insurance at checkout--in which case your damage claim will be processed within 48 hours.
On occasion, liquid items have been known to leak from mishandling of packages by the shipping carriers. Be assured that at the time your order is packed, all products are packed with extreme care and are in excellent shape with no loose jar lids and show no signs of leaks or damage.
Route Package Protection is offered in the checkout cart for all purchases; although I strongly advise that you take advantage of this service for all orders, please be advised that it is MANDATORY for the shipment of all orders containing liquids and semi solids, such as paint and waxes. If you do not checkout with Route when purchasing these products, you will be contacted for the balance due to add it to your order.
