My father, known to his customers as Milton of Zed Furniture Finishing, was a talented craftsman who provided custom finishing to NYC area wholesalers, decorators and fine furniture stores. I was raised with an appreciation for well-made furniture, but despite begging my father for years to teach me what he knew, he refused adamantly, saying furniture finishing was a dirty job that was "not for girls.”

He had one good point: the products he used were pretty harsh; they were all oil-based, required special disposal and had a terrible odor. With the availability today of a multitude of high quality water based products, restoring furniture has become much more accessible to DIY'ers and home hobbyists.  The products I sell are water-based chalk and milk paints, all of which are non-toxic and contain no VOC's.

Located within Gentle Touch in the neighborhood of Marine Park in Brooklyn, New York, I carry a full compliment of specialty paint products for furniture up-cycle and restoration.
